Partnering with family offices, foundations, and mission-minded individuals who want to fight the climate crisis

For family offices wanting to ensure their investments have a positive, long-term impact on the planet, it can be challenging to find the most promising options. This is especially true when it comes to finding and investing in technologies aimed at solving the climate crisis.

This is where VertueLab can help.

We partner with family offices, foundations, and mission-minded individuals – including a growing number of young people – who want to contribute to the global transition to a low-carbon economy.

A nonprofit organization, VertueLab finds, vets, invests in, and supports new clean technology startups with a unique combination of funding from our Climate Impact Fund coupled with holistic entrepreneurial support.

With a 12-year track record, we were the first organization in the U.S. to make direct, impact-first investments in cleantech startups. And it works! We have proven that our unique model accelerates development and deployment of new climate tech solutions that are key to reversing the crisis.

Here are a few examples of the dozens of new startups we have funded and supported:

ESS – storing green energy in nontoxic batteries the size of shipping containers

Arcimoto – manufacturing 3-wheeled electric vehicles right here in the U.S.

InPipe Energy – generating electricity from the water pressure in city pipes

IOTAS – saving residents time, money, and energy with smart home technologies

The Renewal Workshop – keeping returned/damaged clothing out of landfills

At VertueLab, we connect entrepreneurs to the resources and networks they need to succeed and deploy their climate technology solutions sooner. We focus on the earliest-stage startups that have the highest potential for climate impact but are struggling to find conventional capital. And we use tailored impact forecasting and measurement tools to guide our investment decisions and measure climate impact.

And through it all, we are prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion, seeking out the broadest possible pipeline of innovators, including women and entrepreneurs of color, to ensure that all the best ideas receive the early support they need to succeed.

In a nutshell, we invest in visionary people who are working hard to innovate and transform sectors ranging from energy and transportation to construction, agriculture, and more.

We know that the most promising new cleantech startups of today will create climate impact tomorrow, especially when they have funding, guidance, and other resources early on.

VertueLab’s Climate Impact Fund is fueled by a blend of philanthropic and catalytic capital from family offices, individuals, and foundations that want to have a direct impact on climate change and believe in the power of innovation and entrepreneurship.
